Festive ideas from our Winter wedding couple! 🎄☃️💍

We're SO here for Winter Weddings!

Hi Bridal Diaries Gang,

It’s Ekta here! For me, January felt like an eternity but over the weekend I received the sweetest gift from my final couple of 2024 who had a beautiful winter Hindu wedding and reception, filled with the most festive touches! Their gift of appreciation took me back to their special day and it inspired me to write this week’s newsletter!

I have always been a fan of winter weddings, there is something so magical about it and with more couples opting for weddings outside the summer season, I wanted to share some ideas to help you add that extra “wow” factor. So, grab a warm drink and enjoy todays read!

1) Colour Palettes: Embrace The Seasonal Shift

After September, we start seeing gorgeous autumnal shades – warm oranges and browns, which transition into the rich reds and shimmery whites of the Christmas season that can be incorporated in your decor. But if you love summer hues like pastels or blush pinks, check out what our stunning couple did, they incorporated soft pinks into their mandap, paired beautifully with eucalyptus greens and dark brown tones from their mandap furniture. The combo was unique and breathtaking!

2) Hot Drink Stations

Whether your guests enjoy a warm tipple or not, this idea will certainly be a crowd-pleaser, for those chilly winter evenings. Our couple had a hot chocolate and mulled wine station giving it a fun and festive touch which the guests really appreciated. You could keep it simple with a self-serve station where guests can add sprinkles, marshmallows and other toppings, or you can go all out and hire a mobile van! Imagine an outdoor truck serving hot chocolate, mulled wine or even hot cider – it’s a treat!

3) Festive Personalised Favours

Struggling to come up with the perfect favour? If you’re getting married during the Christmas period, why not ask your venue if you can hang personalised baubles on their Christmas tree? Guests can find their name but also take home a keepsake from your big day they will be cherish for years to come. This idea came from our final 2024 booking, the stunning couple had a personalised Christmas bauble for Pristine, how sweet! Other ideas include mini hot chocolate bottles, personalised Christmas crackers, festive candy canes or even handwritten Christmas cards. The possibilities are endless!

4) Festive Table Plans

Traditional seating plans are timeless and classic, but if you did want to try something new I recently saw a low-cost but incredibly charming idea that I had to share. A couple collected pinecones leading up to their wedding, attached tartan ribbons, and hand wrote their guest names and table numbers and placed it on a Christmas decorated welcome table. It was a unique and rustic way for guests to find their seats which can also double up as a keepsake! Alternatively, if you love the Christmas tree idea but do not have enough space, why not consider hanging table cards with names and numbers from the tree. It’s a festive and whimsical way to organise seating!

5) S’mores and Marshmallows

Our couple had a barn wedding that has a fire pit (trust me, so many venues have this), you could consider a s’mores station or even just a simple marshmallow setup? Our lovely couple from November thought of everything – they had a s’mores station for guests who wanted to warm up or take a break outside. It was a hit! Guests (and the Pristine Team) had so much fun toasting marshmallows and enjoying a cozy treat while staying warm.

6) To have and to hold, in case you get cold!

Winter weddings are drop dead gorgeous and so are the outfits guests wear. Our couples guests truly appreciated blankets that were provided to them when they entered the venue. It meant guests could ditch the heavy coats and feel cosy during the ceremony with their super light yet warm blankets. Oh and that’s another keep sake idea!

7) A Festive Exit

Looking for a unique twist for your exit? Instead of petal throwing or bubbles, why not give your guests personalised jingle bells to ring as you make your exit? It’s a festive, fun, and interactive way to set the mood for your departure!

There are so many more ideas for a festive winter wedding, but these are some of my personal favourites which I saw being appreciated by guests. If you’re still deciding on your wedding date or thinking about a wedding after the summer season, consider this your sign to opt for a winter wedding, it truly is magical!

Happy Planning!

Love,
Ekta 🤍
